Position Title: Graduate Assistant – Strength and Conditioning
Position Accountable To: Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include working with all phases of the strength and conditioning program that include but are not limited to: working with various athletic programs to develop physical strength, flexibility, speed, and agility utilizing program(s) designed to each athletic program’s needs. Coordinating with athletic staff on scheduling and the status of the program and /or student-athletes. Promoting a positive atmosphere in the facility. Assisting with the general upkeep of equipment and the facility. Other duties as assigned.
Develop a familiarity with NAIA rules and maintain the integrity of the athletic program through the appropriate application of these rules.
Provide excellent customer service to our students, donors, sponsors, alumni and all of our internal and external constituents.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
70% - Work with various athletic programs on strength and conditioning
20% - Coordinate with athletic staff
10% - Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree required. Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field preferred.
First Aid/ CPR/AED certification.
Progress towards CSCS and/or SCCC certification (preference to those already certified).
Previous experience in college athletics preferred.
Must be accepted in to the graduate program at Central Methodist University.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50lbs, stand on your feet for periods of three to five hours. Bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping.
Set up equipment and facility as needed
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form. Experience with Microsoft Word.
